Air Guard Commander Retires after 41 years

LATHAM-- New York Air National Guard Commander, Major General Verle Johnston (right), receives a New York State Flag from Major General Patrick Murphy, the Adjutant General of New York, during a retirement ceremony for Johnston on Friday, June 12. Johnston, whose service in the Air Force began in 1974 after he graduated from the Air Force Academy, will be replaced as Air Guard commander by Brig. Gen. Anthony German.
